01 Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways:

• Account info: the email address and password you sign up with, plus any display name, bio, or avatar you add to your profile.
• Content you create: Rooms, invention listings, thumbnails/icons you upload, and Likes/Favorites you give out.
• Local device data: small settings saved in your browser, covered in Section 5 below.

We do not collect payment card details ourselves — any purchases are processed by our payment provider directly.

02 How We Use It

We use the information above to:

• Create and secure your account, and keep you signed in between visits.
• Show your profile, Rooms, and reactions to other visitors as intended.
• Detect and block spam, scripted sign-ups, and brute-force login attempts.
• Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your email address for marketing unless you explicitly opt in to something in the future.

03 Storage & Security

Account and Room data is stored in a Redis database, and uploaded images are stored in a blob storage service, both hosted through our infrastructure provider. Passwords are never stored in plain text — each one is hashed with a random per-account salt before it touches the database, so we can't see or recover your actual password.

No method of storing or transmitting data online is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps — including rate limiting, account lockout after repeated failed logins, and CAPTCHA verification on sign-up and login — to protect your account from unauthorized access.

04 Third Parties

We rely on a small number of outside services to run RecQuiem. We don't sell your data to any of them — they only process it on our behalf:

05 Cookies & Local Storage

RecQuiem doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies. Instead, we use your browser's local storage to remember a few small preferences on your own device:

• Your login session, so you don't have to sign in on every visit.
• Your selected language.
• Music player state (volume, last track) and a few cosmetic site settings you've toggled.

None of this is sent to us or shared with anyone — it stays in your browser, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

06 Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information on your profile at any time.
• Delete your account and associated data using the "Delete Account" option, or by contacting us.
• Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.

07 Children's Privacy

RecQuiem is intended for users aged 13 and up, in line with our Terms of Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we've collected information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we'll delete it as soon as possible — contact us if you believe this has happened.

08 Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, Rooms, and reactions, though we may retain limited records where necessary for fraud prevention, security, or legal compliance.

09 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as RecQuiem grows and new features are added. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do, and significant changes will be noted on our patch notes or Discord.
